About the School

Rince na Grada is a school that encourages the art of Traditional Irish Dancing.

We believe everyone, of all ages, should be given the opportunity to enjoy and celebrate this unique art formin its entirety. Whether you are 4 or 104, we encourage you to step out of the box and push yourself to learn new things.

The name of this school, Rince na Grada, has two significant English translations. The Gaelic rince na grada means dance of grace. The first meaning is a very obvious description of Irish dancing, the second is less known. As a young girl growing up, Mrs. Kilpatrick was inspired greatly by her Grandmother. She was a woman who encouraged each of her grandchildren to be adventureous and try new things. She believed in making everyone feel a part of the family no matter your belief or race. She was the energy and major driving force behind the O'Brien family. That is why Mrs. Kilpatrick would like to honor her  grandmother, Grace, with the name of the school.

Rince na Grada is a young, energetic school based in the Grosse Pointe, MI area. Though students are taught as a group, each one will receive individual and personal training. Mrs. Kilpatrick believes in the quality of her dancers and is commited to making sure each one recieves the help and encouragement they need to succeed.

At this time, Rince na Grada is a non- competitve school, meaning it does not participate in any feiseanna. Where the opportunity arises they will dance in shows, parades, and school recitals. All students are invited to participate, but none are required to do so.

Rince na Grada is a growing school with a passion for the art of Irish Step Dancing. Come experience a lesson and see what we're all about!
